From the Coach’s Chair: How a Coach Can Help You Finally See Progress
Here’s What’s Bringing Me to the Chair Today
Today, I want to talk about something that many people don’t realize could completely change their wellness journey: having a health and wellness coach in your corner.
Confession time: I’ve been struggling a little bit in my own journey. Hitting that 1.5-year mark made me realize that maintaining healthy habits can feel like a grind. You hit that moment where you think: “Holy crap, I have to do this for the rest of my life?”
And let me tell you, I wish I had a coach to guide me through those tough moments. Unfortunately, the coaches I trained with can’t coach me (since we went through the course together), but I know firsthand how powerful it would be to have someone to keep me grounded, focused, and accountable.
The truth is, lapses are completely normal in the maintenance stage of change (future post coming on that!). But this got me thinking… maybe you’re in the same place too. Let’s talk about how a wellness coach can help.
“I’ve Tried It All…”
Does this sound familiar?
You’ve done all the things — every diet, every new workout trend, maybe even those wild bungee or Zumba classes from back in the day. It was fun at first, but eventually, life got busy, the momentum faded, and you felt like you failed.
Here’s the truth: you’re not broken, lazy, or bad at this. You’re human.
Our brains are designed to resist change because they love what’s familiar and comfortable. Change is hard — and that’s exactly where a coach comes in.
That’s Where a Coach Comes In!
When you started your last “new thing,” did you dive in all at once?
Maybe you swore off sugar, promised yourself 7 days of intense workouts, and even journaled daily. And… maybe it worked for a week or two before you burned out.
This is where behavior change really matters — and it’s what health and wellness coaches are trained to do.
We’re not here to hand you a generic plan. We’re here to guide you through small, sustainable changes that build real, lasting results.
As a certified health and wellness coach, I’ve been trained in:
Behavior change science
Motivational interviewing (asking the right questions to get to your why)
Appreciative inquiry (finding what’s already working and building on it)
But really? My job is to sit down with you, listen, and partner with you to uncover what you want most. Then, together, we create a plan to get there.
I’m not here to diagnose or prescribe. I’m here to help you reconnect with your best self, rediscover your vision, and take small steps that feel doable — and exciting.
Signs You Might Need a Coach
You might benefit from working with a wellness coach if:
You have big goals but burn out quickly and give up
You don’t know where to start (or what to focus on first)
You feel like you don’t have support or accountability
You’ve been on your journey for a while and feel stuck or bored
You want a partner to help you dig deeper and uncover what’s really holding you back
You feel disconnected from who you are and want to rediscover that part of yourself
